Abigail Ruth Stangl

To know Abbie was to either love her or hate her, there was no middle ground. Most loved her. She was unique. She was incredibly funny and only funnier when she got angry with everyone saying she should have been a comedian. She probably should have. She had a razor sharp wit and dry delivery. Sometimes it took a while to realize you had been burned and were likely the object of her wit.

She was kind, loving and generous to a fault often looking out or helping others before she thought of herself. She was one of a kind and will be missed terribly by many.

Abigail Ruth Stangl, 40, passed away October 20, 2016 at her home in Penrose.  She was born April 3, 1976 to Micheal Richard and Marilyn (nee, LeeMaster-Hasty) Stangl in La Junta, CO. She was a brilliant, quick-witted soul who loved the outdoors and animals.  Abbie especially loved horses, most especially a crazy palomino mare named Cricket.  She was an accomplished horsewoman. She is survived by mother Marilyn Stangl (Roger Jensen), father Richard and Pam (Lindsey Robbins-Falletta) Stangl , sister Janna (Wade) Bostwick, much beloved nephew Leyton Tate Blundell, and her puppy-child, Riley. She also leaves her much loved uncles and aunt, Les and Shirley Hasty, David Stangl and Kenneth Stangl and several cousins.

She was preceded by her grandparents James (Robert) Lee Master, Ruth E. Lee Master Hasty, Donald and Ruth Stangl, Leigh Stangl and Uncle Ron Stangl.  A Celebration of Life will be held at 1:30 P.M., Saturday, November 5, 2016 at Harwood Chapel, 516 N. 10th, Canon City, CO 81212.  In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to: Dream Catchers Equine Rescue in Fountain or the Brain Injury Alliance of Colorado in Denver.
