Curtis Elwood Jones, 86, of Canon City, CO, passed away of a stroke on April 12, 2017. He was born November 7, 1930. He graduated in 1948 from Sissonville, WV High School. Curtis was married to Lilly Newhouse for 66 years. Curtis was a supervisor with Owens Illinois Glass Container for over 36 years before his retirement. Curtis had many interest including fishing, hunting and everything “outdoors”. He also loved singing in gospel quartets. Curtis and his wife are members of the Greydene Baptist Church, Canon City. They were also members of the Trinity Baptist Church in Marianna, FLA. He is preceded by two infant girls, Sandra and Brenda Jones; parents; brothers, Opa, Harry Lincoln and Charles “Jack” Jones; sisters, Hattie Crowder and Frances Tappan; half- brothers, Forrest Jones and William Shouldis and half-sister, Oakley Harper and great-granddaughter, Ginger Blankenship. He is survived by one son, Ronald Jones and his wife Linda Jones of Canon City, CO; granddaughters, Tammy (Rocky) Brown of Altha, FL; Linda Michelle Blankenship of New Orleans, LA; Christy Blankehship and Dilt Neal of Altha, FL; Great- grandsons, Patrick, Kyle and Bradley; granddaughter, Appalonia and numerous nieces and nephews. Interment will follow at Floral Hills Garden of Memories in Sissonville, WV. Curtis has been a loving Husband, Father, Grandfather and Great-grandfather and will be missed by all.
