Herschel Rex Smith

Herschel "Rex" Smith of Canon City, CO passed away peacefully at 7:30 a.m., Saturday, January 7, 2017 after losing his battle against COPD (Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease). Prior to becoming ill, Rex loved to fish, hunt, repair old vehicles and travel around the United States.  Rex retired from the Plumbers and Fitters Local #58 in Colorado Springs, CO.  Rex is survived by his daughter and son-in-law Linda and Gerry Bland of Canon City, CO; daughter, Marion Kulpa of Poncha Springs, CO.; grandchildren, Gerry and Lisa Bland II, Buena Vista, CO.; Alex and Emily McDougal, New Mexico; Robert and Cindy Smith, Arkansas, his shining star-niece Sue Fox, Andrews, TX.; sister Jean Eads, TX.; sister Betty Sue Jones, Arkansas.; brothers Donald, Ronald and Larry Smith, Arkansas; sister-in-law, Tonya and Ken Bach, Arizona; brother-in-law Mervin and Emily Thiessen, Georgia.  Preceding Rex in death, his wife, Erma Smith (Just ten short months ago); daughter, Christine McDougal, Colorado Springs, CO; father and mother, Ray and Elsie Smith, Arkansas; sister Marie Reimer, CA.; brother and sister-in-law, Raymond and Helen Smith, CO.; brother Lloyd Smith, AK.; sister Janet Hodges, AK.  There will be no services at the request of Herschel "Rex" Smith.  Arrangements entrusted to Harwood Funeral Home.  Online condolences at Harwoodfunerals.com.
