Sally Louise Dornhecker

Sally Louise Dornhecker passed away on March 21, 2017.  She was born on March 31, 1961 in Pueblo, Colorado to Dan and Julia Mestas, and moved to Canon City as an infant.  She graduated from CCHS in 1979 and proudly worked for the City of Canon City before joining the Fremont Sanitation District for many years as their Human Resource specialist.       

Sally was a loving wife, mother, sister, daughter and friend.  She always made it a point to let others know just how special they were to her. Her laugh, smile and vibrant energy were infectious.  

When Sally wasn’t high fiving life on Harleys and Halloween, she was active with the Orchard of Hope, and volunteered with the Fremont Community Foundation.  Her passion and enthusiasm left an indelible mark and she will continue to be an amazing inspiration.     

          More than anything she loved her family. Sal treasured dearly her partner in life for over 20 years, husband Marvin. She had a special bond with her daughter, Caitlin Dageforde. And she was a terrific mom to her beloved dachshunds!  She cherished her beautiful home, made especially for her by Marv, where good times were always welcomed and love was always shared.  

Sally was preceded in death by her mom, Julia, mom in law Barb, brother BoBo and nephew John K. She is survived by Marv and Caitie, as well as dads, Dan and Marvin Sr., son Cody, brothers Danny (Joey) Mestas and Ron (Marcia) Dornhecker, sisters Lisa (Nacho) Sandoval and Dawn (Kurt) McDermott, nieces Karly Padilla and Lauren (Chuck) Koenig, nephews Jace Sandoval and Zach (Stephanie) Cutter, and numerous aunts, uncles, cousins and great nieces and nephews.

Her incredible spirit will forever remain a part of all those she touched. She will be greatly missed and we will see her again when we are called home.  Celebration of Life will be held at 1:00 p.m., Tuesday, March 28, 2017 at Canon Community Baptist Church 1111 Monroe Avenue Canon City, Colorado 81212, with reception following.
