Hello Alfredo. It had been my honor and privileges to spend time with you and being each other’s confidant and close friend for the last 25 years. We all missed you very much. Enjoyed watching together the games played by the 49ers, SF Giants, and Warriors, especially when they won the Championships… of course also other comedy shows and movies. Missed sharing meals together – eating at home or eating out. Enjoyed watching you eating the whole big plate of Spaghetti with meatballs and Italian sauce, and your savoring every spoon of ice-cream and every bite of desserts. Missed singing with you at Caffe Trieste and together watching the videotapes of our duets over and over again. More impressive was that I witnessed you being so persistent, never give up, and consistently providing hope through your help with friends, plants and animals. You watered a wilted plant until it blooms again. You saved your dying Maltese with mouth-to-mouth resuscitation to bring it alive again. Many of your friends with whom you helped persistently when they were sick and ills. People and animals drawn into you, not only because of your youthful handsome look, but also your angelic qualities that you saw and treated everyone equally with compassion; embraced them without hesitation; and greeted them with warm smiles and a great sense of humor.

Personally, thank you, Alfredo, for being my closest friend I ever have. Thank you, Alfredo, for being you and sharing your heart and soul to those you have encountered. Thank you, Alfredo for lifting us up to a higher plane. You truly are the wind beneath our wings. Will see you later. Take care.

IN MEMORIAM: Alfredo Tollis (1923-2017)
I am saddened to report that NEW Caffe Trieste Saturday Concert cast member Alfredo Tollis passed-on just before Thanksgiving, on November 21, 2017. He had recently been suffering from a brain tumor and recently contracted pneumonia due to treatment complications. Alfredo performed both solo and with singing partner Irving Mok from 1999 through 2016 in the Concert. It was my pleasure to have introduced him to our audiences as “the most dapper octogenerian (later nonagenerian) I know” so many times over the last 18 years. From his Trieste Music bio: “…a handsome, charming Italian gentleman, World War II Navy Veteran, excelled in Football, Basketball and Tennis but did not sing until age 72 until a friend encouraged him to sing at nursing homes, memorials….. An audience member told Alfredo that Caffe Trieste founder “Papa Gianni” would love him. In April 1999, at age 75, he introduced himself to Papa Gianni. Alfredo’s renditions of “Oh Marie”, “Innamorata” and “Release Me” are very well received.” Alfredo was also an amateur dog handler who, with his Champion Maltese pup “Christy”, successfully competed in A.K.C. competitions. Alfredo never passed up an opportunity to say hello to our pups Rudi and Fratina, who always sit “backstage” during our concerts.
Services will be held in his native Colorado on December 1. He will indeed be missed by our audiences and cast members! Full Obituary and online condolences at www.harwoodfunerals.com

Alfredo was a beautiful Person, it was an Honor to know him. We had so much fun listening to him sing at Caffe Trieste for many years. I was lucky to be there last Month to hear him sing with Irving. I took Alfredo and Irving to my Italian Club and of coarse he wanted to sing with the Band. Everyone at the Club loved him and his singing.
Alfredo the Angels will sing for you now my Friend.

With all my Love

What an absolute delight to know Alfredo. It was a treat to be part of the Caffe Trieste singing cast with him in San Francisco.
