Carol Lee Coates

Carol Lee Coats, 75 years old, passed away on November 11, 2019 in her home in Canon City with her daughter, Carrie by her side.

She was born on May 25, 1944 in Gibbon, Minnesota to Paul and Adeline Kreft.  In 1956 the family moved to Rocky Ford, CO. She finished 6th grade and attended Jefferson Junior High and Rocky Ford High School.  In 1961 she married Gerald Breitenfeld and had two children, Carrie Lynn and Gregory Lee Breitenfeld.  Later she met Matt Coats and they were married on May 22, 1982

Carol loved being a mother as well as reading, cooking especially baking and doing crafts. She loved making artificial floral arrangements.  Later she would enjoy drinking a glass of wine with family and friends and talk about the "good ole days"!!  She was a fun lady!!

She attended Otero Junior college in La Junta, CO and got her Associates degree.  Later, she worked for the Teller County Sheriff's Department as a dispatcher and matron.  She retired from the VA in Las Vegas, Nevada before moving back to Canon City, CO.

Carol is survived by her daughter, Carrie King of Canon City, CO, granddaughter, Jaemi King of Post Falls, Idaho, brothers, Gene Kreft (Christina) of Monument CO and Dale Kreft (Cindy) of Rocky Ford, CO. sisters, Joyce Becker (Tom) of Pine, CO and Diane Dougherty (Gary) of La Junta, CO. She is also survived by several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, Matt Coats, son, Gregory Lee Breitenfeld, grandson, Nykkolas King and brother, Glen Kreft.

Harwood Cremation & Funeral Service, Canon City, CO is in charge of her cremation.  A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date.
