John Anthony Tenorio, 53 of Canon City passed away November 23, 2018 at his home. He was born September 19, 1965 to Edward and Kathleen (Diaz) Tenorio in San Antonio, Texas. After his retirement from Albertsons, John beame an advocate for many causes dear to his heart. He was the Executive of Native American AIDS Prevention, Treasurer and board member of Pueblo Community Health Board. John was also active with the National Amputee Coalition, American Diabetes Association and served as the president of the Southern Colorado Chapter of PFLAG. John loved to travel and traveled around the world several times. A community minded individual, John was always helping others with his advocacy for Native American, Hispanic and LGBTQ medical, mental health and homelessness issues. He is survived by his children, Brandon Tenorio and Lindsey (D'metri) Martinez; siblings Richard (Donna) Tenorio, Len (Willis) Tenorio, Bernard Tenorio, Susan (David) Smith; granddaughter Mercedes Martinez, special niece Myla Fishel, numerous neices and nephews and special friend Lou Mercer. He was preceded in death by his parents, brother Edward Tenorio. A celebration of life will be held at 11:00A.M., Firday, November 30, 2018 at First Congregational Church, 228 W.
