Walter “Alan” Conover, 77, of Penrose passed away at his home August 28, 2018. He was born on March 23, 1941 in Las Animas, CO to Alfred and Ina (Turpin) Conover. After graduating high school, Alan served his country in the United States Navy. After serving four years in the Navy, he came back home and married Juanita Miller, the love of his life on September 7, 1963. They were married for almost 55 years and had three children. Alan started working for the State of Colorado with the Highway Department, CDOT. After retiring from CDOT, he and Juanita enjoyed traveling the country as antique dealers. Alan also loved fishing, camping and spending quiet time in the outdoors of Colorado. One of his favorite places to go was Taylor Lake. He leaves behind his wife Juanita, children; Gregory (Dayle) Conover, E. Scott (Christy) Conover, Curtis (Amber) Conover, grandchildren; Johnathan, Grace, Joya, Gabriela, Abigail and Josh, siblings; Ida Heaton, Alfreda Green and Jean Shelly as well as numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents and granddaughter Gloria. A celebration of life will be held at 10:00 A.M. Wednesday, September 5, 2018 at Evangelical Free Church, 3000 E.
