Albert Joseph Garcia, born on March 20, 1936, in Denver, Colorado, passed away on June 24, 2026, in Florence, Colorado. He will be deeply missed by family who cherish his memory. Albert lived a life marked by steady commitment and quiet strength. Throughout his life, he valued hard work, faith, and the importance of family.
On April 16, 1955, Albert married Esther Chavez, beginning a 71 year partnership built on hard work and dedication. Together, they shared the joys and challenges of a full life, and their bond remained a source of strength for years. Albert was a proud father to his children: Dave, Steve and Lydia Garcia. He was preceded in death by his son, Steve Garcia, brothers Manuel Garcia and Oliver Garcia, mother Emma Medina and step father Frank Medina.
Albert had an amazing work ethic. He spent his early years in the auto industry skillfully painting cars, he worked in the Stone City clay mine, Colorado Refractories Brick Plant and then ended his work career at the RE-2 School District where he was a dedicated custodian for 20 years. His work reflected the same dependable character that guided every part of his life. He understood the value of responsibility and service, and he approached his duties with dedication to a job done well. Those who worked alongside him could count on his steady presence and his respectful manner.
Albert will be remembered for his gentle nature but also his unassuming sense of humor which he gladly shared with his grandchildren. His life was a testament to the power of simple goodness, faithful devotion, and commitment to hard work.
Albert Joseph Garcia is survived by his wife, Esther Garcia, children Lydia and Dave Garcia, brother Sam (Diana) Garcia, grandchildren Corrin (Nate) Hogan, Vanessa (Jason) Messer; Linda Garcia, Logan Martinez, Layne Martinez, Leyah Martinez and Landon Martinez and great grandchildren Alison Messer, Madison Messer, Chase Messer and Ellianna Hogan. Though he is no longer with us, his memory will live on in the hearts of those who loved him. His life was well lived, and he will be remembered with deep affection, gratitude, and respect.
A funeral service will be held on Thursday July 2, 2026 at 10 A.M. at St. Benedict Catholic Church in Florence. Interment will follow at Union Highland Cemetery.
