We are heartbroken to announce that the patriarch of our family, Albert Earl Wood, of Cañon City, Colorado, passed away on February 21, 2021 at his home in Cañon City, due to complications from COVID-19. He was 84 years old. He was born April 24, 1936 in Colorado Springs, Colorado. He was a Korean War Veteran who served five years in The U.S. Army. He is preceded in death by his parents, Albert Ira Wood and Margaret Wood Gilland, his sister Virginia Westfall, and brother David Gilland. He is survived in this life by his two children, Becky J. Langston, and Albert O.(Modesta) Wood. Five grandsons; Chris Wood, Michael (Megan) Burrell, Albert B. Wood, Bridger Langston, Nicholas Lehn, and five great-grandchildren; Daytona Wood, Taylor and Garrett Burrell, Brock Langston, Elyza Lehn and several nieces and nephews.
He also leaves behind his loyal canine companion, ''Houdini''. Albert was an animal lover all his life, and surrounded himself with friends, family, and his dogs. He will be remembered for his gentle and loving nature which embraced not only family and friends but any animal in his care as well.
Albert’s life was defined throughout by care and generosity towards others, especially his children, grandchildren, and family. Although, he always extended his helpful hand to neighbors, friends, and others. He was generous with his gifts, generous with his time, generous with his tools, and most important, generous with his love. He was very proud of his children and grand-children.
He will be missed by all who were fortunate enough to know him, and will live on through the hearts, memories and laughter of his family and the many who loved him.
Our heartfelt thanks to Lindsey Jolly, FNP-BC, who went above and beyond in caring for him and tending to his medical, and emotional needs to the very end.
A memorial service will be held on March 13th,2021 at 2pm at the Harwood Chapel, 516 N.10th St. Cañon City, Colorado With a celebration of life to follow at Albert's Home at 1228 Sherman Ave. Canon City, Colorado (Please bring a mask)
