Alberta Lee Martinez

Alberta Martinez “Bert” passed away March 16, 2022 in Colorado Springs, Colorado. Bert was born in Trinidad, Colorado on December 31, 1948 to Mary Jane Harman and adopted by John Franklin Harman. Bert graduated from Florence High School in 1967. She married Johnnie Martinez in 1967 and raised three children in Canon City, Colorado. Theresa Martinez in May of 1968, Becky Martinez in May of 1972, and Kerry Martinez in October of 1979. In her younger years she thoroughly enjoyed spending her time at Rouse Park playing softball. Bert enjoyed watching the Atlanta Braves, dancing, playing poker, and spending time outdoors. Anyone who knew Bert, knew she was extremely stubborn and independent but would do anything for anyone. Bert’s best days were spent with her grandchildren who she cherished more than life itself. She was often found laughing and singing to her favorite country music.

Bert is survived in death by her two daughters, Theresa Craig and Kerry Martinez (Joe); Son in- law David Louk; four grandchildren; Shelby Leanne, Eythan Douglas, Caitlin Craig, and Brandon Craig; sister Anna (Tony) Barnhill; as well as numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and good friends. She is proceeded in death by her parents Mary Jane and John Franklin Harman; sister Zia; daughter Becky Louk; grandson Cody Louk, and son in-law Rick Craig.

Services will be held Monday March 21, 2022 at Grandview Christian Church at 3245 Grandview Avenue, Canon City, CO at 11:00am. A celebration of life will follow at the Craigs residence.
