Antoinette Mauro Obituary

On Wednesday 11.20.2024 Toni (Antoinette Louise)

Mauro loving wife, mother, grandmother, sister and friend died one week before her 81st birthday.

Toni was born in the midwest (Madison WI) but most definitely thrived in the southwest. Toni and her husband of 49 yrs, Frank Mauro,

lived in Canon City CO and very much loved the friendships and beauty the town had to offer.

If you were lucky enough to have shared Toni's laugh, light, and love you were blessed beyond measure. Her indelible spirit, resiliency and desire to leave

everyone she met with a smile will be her everlasting legacy for all who had the privilege of calling her a friend.

As early as her elementary school graduation, Toni was recognized as having her “feet planted firmly…on a cloud!”

Toni’s cheerful and friendly outward appearance concealed a toughness and strength born of having survived many challenges that could have crushed a lesser person. From surviving childhood rheumatic fever to helping her family and friends through all their lives’ challenges, Toni showed us all the way to thrive and grow from adversity. Even though life threw her many difficulties, she never lost her concern for her loved ones, and even strangers who just needed a hand. Many people recognized on first meeting Toni that she was a special angel. We have heard so many wonderful stories of her being her ice cream vendor’s  “favorite customer” and the like.  It is a great comfort to her family to know how many here in Cañon City loved and appreciated Toni’s unique and special gifts! Thank you for helping her live her life to the fullest right up to the end.

A celebration of life will be announced at a later date.
