Arthur Ray Daniels Jr. "Sonny", 71, passed away December 25, 2025 at his home in Penrose, Colorado surrounded by his family. Sonny was born in Florence, Colorado to Arthur Ray Daniels Sr. and Anna Marie (Bracco) Daniels on February 14, 1954.
Sonny lived his entire life in Penrose, Colorado. He was the oldest of 9 siblings. Sonny graduated from Florence High School and went on to work ranches in Westcliffe and Wyoming. He married Lori Munson in 1981. The couple raised two daughters and later became loving grandparents. He dedicated 45 years of his life to the Holcim Cement Plant before retiring in 2021. He was born a farmer, tending cows and managing fields until the day he died.
His passion for farming and ranching guided his lifetime pursuits. He participated in 4-H as a youth and later become a club leader. He served on the Board of Directors for Beaver Park Water for 44 years to protect what he loved: agriculture. He firmly believed in giving back to the community and volunteered his time and expertise to Penrose Elementary School. Every year he looked forward to using his antique tractor to pull his grandkids' floats in the Apple Day Parade. He also enjoyed rodeo, both as a participant and spectator, elk hunting with his brothers, and rooting for the Packers. He was a devoted husband, father, and grandfather.
He was preceded in death by his father and mother.
Sonny is survived by his wife, Lori; his daughters, Jessie and Molly (Jake) Sabo; Grandchildren Hadley and Jace Sabo; and six brothers and two sisters.
Services will be held on January 2, 2026 at 10:00 am at Steeple Event Center, 701 Macon Ave. Canon City, Colorado.
