Robert ‘Bob’ Newton Hand of Florence, Colorado peacefully entered into his heavenly home on December 4, 2025 at the age of 89.
Bob was a devoted husband, father and grandfather who faithfully served his community and church with his kind, compassionate leadership throughout his life.
He was born to parents Auldin and Vivian (Eller) Hand on January 6, 1936 in a house on East 6th St. in Florence, CO, across the street from his most recent residence of 65 years.
Bob is survived by his loving wife of 67 years, Beverly (Demoret) Hand and his three sons, Robert Eugene Hand (Tamara), Georgetown, TX, Donald Wayne Hand (Ela), Colorado Springs, CO and Michael Allen Hand (Ellen), Firestone, CO and honorary children John and Susan Shattuck, Haviland, KS. He was a fun-loving grandfather to eight grandchildren, Ryan, Haylie, Jonathan, Kevin, Brady, Matthew, Jacob and Donald Jr., as well as 10 great grandchildren. He is also survived by sister, Lorena Joyce Holcomb and numerous nephews and nieces.
He was preceded in death by siblings Alice Bedingfield, Richard Hand, Bill Perdue and Jack Perdue.
Bob was an active member of the Faith Journey Church of the Nazarene and served in many leadership roles over the years. His faith in God was the cornerstone of his beliefs and helped to sustain him through the many challenges of life.
Bob served in the National Guard (1956-62). He was a valued employee of Boeing Co., Portec, Inc., Fremont RE-2 Transportation Dept. and volunteer ditch-rider for Continental Lateral Ditch Co.
Bob will be warmly remembered for his quick wit, ornery grin, his innate ability to make and fix anything and for his famous chocolate peanut butter cookies that he generously shared with family, friends and neighbors.
A memorial service will be held in the near future to honor his life and legacy.
