Charolett LaRae Surber-Highwood, 85, of Canon City, CO, passed away peacefully on May 8th, 2025. LaRae was born on July 12th, 1939, in Salida, Colorado to Frank and June Surber.
She graduated from Salida Highschool in 1958 and married Daniel Highwood on January 30th, 1963. She loved arrowhead hunting, trains, and collecting dolls and turtles.
She was a valued employee at Woolworth, Ben Franklins, Gibson's, and Holiday Inn.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Daniel Highwood (spouse), Frances Surber (sister), Willis "Buddy" Surber (brother), Gina Curtis (niece), Scott Surber (nephew), KayCee Yenter (great niece).
She is survived by her daughter Colleen Randolph, her step son Michael Highwood, 5 grand children: Wade, Alana, Leann, Angelia, and Melissa. 2 great-grandchildren: Megan, and Rochelle and great-great grandson Atreyu. Along with numerous nieces and nephews.
A graveside service will be held at Poncha Springs cemetery at 11:00 AM on May 25th, 2025. The celebration of life will be announced after the graveside service.
