Cynthia Smith

Cynthia (Cindy) Smith - Devoted wife of Frank W. Smith and longtime resident of Canon City, passed away Sunday morning, August 21, 2022. Cindy was born in La Junta, Colorado to George and Margaret (Meislahn) Bauer on February 17, 1938. She grew up in Denver and graduated from South High School. She was preceded in death by her first husband, George P. Rauscher, Jr. (Bud), with whom she had two daughters, Allison (Alderman) and Heidi (Tilghman). Cindy met Frank W. Smith in 1980 in Colorado Springs where they were married in December of that year. During their forty-two years together, Frank and Cindy lived the sentiment inscribed in their wedding rings, "You'll never walk alone." They shared travel, sports, numerous hobbies and volunteer activities. Cindy was a wonderful homemaker and generous friend. Her beauty, kindness and thoughtful ways will be missed by all who knew her. In addition to Frank and her two daughters, Cindy is survived by her sister, Nancy Walrath, stepchildren Stuart, Allison and Rachel Smith, five grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
