Daniel Dale Obituary

Daniel John Dale passed away at his home near Florence Mountain Park. Dan was born in Yakima, Washington on November 29, 1951, to Virgil and Marlene (Agnes) Dale. They moved to Penrose, Colorado in 1967. Following in his father’s footsteps, he enlisted in the army in January of 1969, volunteering to serve in Vietnam. In the army Dan was schooled in aviation, where he completed his Aircraft Maintenance Apprenticeship and Door Gunner Qualification Course. Dan received the Air Medal in honor of his 25 plus missions performed in hostile airspace. He was honorably discharged in January of 1972. After the army, Dan pursued some small business ventures alongside his dad. This included a small grocery store called “The Little Big Store”, as well as a feed store in Penrose where Dan and his father would raise around 200 head of hogs at a time. Dan was also a musician, being fluent in several musical languages. The guitar was his bread and butter though, paired with a fluttering harmonica and a deep baritone voice. He showcased his talent in a band called the “Black Rose” during the later 70’s and early 80’s. Dan also held a love for Harley Davidson motorcycles. He spent a considerable amount of time on his own in the mid 80’s riding with the Sons of Silence. Dan’s rich laugh, knowledge, and sayings will be greatly missed. He was preceded in death by his parents Virgil and Marlene, brother Michael Allen Dale, and his son Thomas James Dale. Dan is survived by his wife Jodie Dale of Cañon City, Colorado, daughters Becka Bogue (Gabe) of Lakewood, Colorado and Billie Anderson (CJ) of St. Joseph, Missouri, and sons Allen Dale (Erin) of Cañon City, Colorado and Brian Dale of Delta, Colorado. Services are to be announced later. Donations can be made in Dan’s name to the Wounded Warrior Project.
