David Church, Sr.

David Wayne Church, Sr., passed away December 26, 2021 in Canon City, CO.  He was born April 17, 1955 to Elwood and Hazel (Bosworth) Church in Philadelphia, PA.

Shortly after graduating high school, David served his country in United States Army.  During the Vietnam War, he served bravely, earning several medals and merits.  While his work career involved various things and travel throughout the USA, he spent many years at the Philadelphia Naval Yard before winding down his career at the Federal Prison in Florence, Colorado and living in Canon City where he and his wife Susan, spent their retiring years.

David was an avid Harley Davidson fan and owned several.  He also loved tattoos, of which he had many and he thought Donald Trump was an excellent president. He was a charming man that loved to socialize.  He especially enjoyed running into his friends at Walmart, spending more time visiting than shopping.  A true Philadelphia Eagles fan, he never missed a game and bled Eagles green.

He is survived by wife, Susan Peterson; son, David (Barb) Church, Jr.; daughter, Dawn Church; step-children Jason (Amanda) Peterson, Chad Peterson, Shane Peterson and Travis Peterson; 16 grandchildren and 2 great-grandchildren and his beloved Chihuahua Bella for they were inseparable and went everywhere together.
