David L. McCumber was born to Ila and David McCumber on December 10, 1959. He was the fourth of five children and grew up on a ranch in Wetmore Colorado. He loved his parents, grandparents and siblings deeply and cherished his growing up years on the ranch which led to a lifelong appreciation of animals and pets. Most of all David loved the mountains and fishing at the high lakes with those he loved. David was a handy guy and wanted to help everyone, friends and family alike and will be sorely missed by those that knew David before he became ill.
David worked for many years for Mathews Bros Electric, Inc. in Canon City and the former Dorchester Mine south of Florence Colorado and was very proud of his family’s history in the Florence area.
David was survived by Debra Meyers, step-sons Bret Bodycomb (Kate) and granddaughter Alyee, Bryce Bodycomb (Ashton) and granddaughter Saylor. He is also survived by his mother, Ila McCumber, brother Zane McCumber (Judy), sisters Brenda Shaefer (Larry) and Rose Ziemer and sister-in-law Cindy McCumber, mother-in-law Marge Meyers, father-in-law Jim Meyers and brother-in-law JD Meyers and family. He especially loved his nieces Kristina Finn and Rachel McCumber and nephews Clinton Shaefer and Cody Ziemer and their spouses and children.
