Desiree Dyson Obituary

Desiree Anne Dyson, 48, was born on March 10, 1974 to Robert and Aquina (Reynolds)Dyson in Englewood, CO. She passed  away peacefully in her own home in the last hours of Wednesday, July 20, 2022. Desiree is survived by family: Aquina Coulter her mother, John Coulter her stepdad, Aimee Dyson her younger sister, her older brother Robert Dyson, her 97 year old grandmother Clare Reynolds and many nephews and nieces.  Her daughter and best friend Crystal Prather and the sunshine of her life,  grandson Julian, born September 9, 2020  were the greatest treasures she was granted. She loved Crystal’s entire family, son-in-law Glenn Compton and her two step-children Shelby Compton and Walker Compton and appreciated the time she shared with them.

In 1986 her parents decided to relocate the whole family to Canon City. Desiree attended Canon City Junior High and High School. She moved back and forth between Denver and Canon City in the 90s and early 2000s.  Her jobs were usually in the hospitality and retail fields.  In 2007 Desiree moved back to Canon City for good and attended Pueblo Community College where she earned a degree in accounting. She became a member of the  Royal Gorge Route Railroad family in 2013, becoming one of their accountants and remained there with them until she passed.  She loved working there, loved the people she worked with and always appreciated her employer’s care, understanding and cooperation when she needed specialized scheduling because of health issues she has dealt with for the past 3 decades of her life. She was a hard worker who pushed herself all the time.   In the last years of her life she worked 4 days a week and the other 3 she was in dialysis treatments, her days off during the last years were just holidays.  She was just contemplating a change in her life to give herself more time to rest and heal but these plans did not have time to come to fruition.  Our only consolation is it appears she passed peacefully and that is the only way Desiree deserved to go. Although this is a significant loss to our family we believe she has gone to a better place and we will get the pleasure to be with her again

Desiree was a very loving, caring, friendly, intelligent woman with a great sense of humor,  a heart of gold and sometimes the mouth of a sailor.  She really enjoyed the outdoors and camping but her health issues limited these activities.  Her favorite part of the week was her Sunday evening dinners with her daughter and her family.  Of course her new grandson occupied much of her time during these weekly meals.  She loved all animals, especially dogs and cats, and had 6 cats of her own she loved very much.

In lieu of flowers,  Desiree would be very pleased if you choose to make a donation in her name to JJ Helping Paws who she often worked with or any animal rescue you prefer.  She would greatly appreciate the help for the little fuzzy friends she cared about with all her heart. Goodbye Desiree we loved you so much and we will all miss you terribly but believe we will run into you again in a place much better than this world.

Services will be this Friday, July 29 at 10:00 A.M. at the Steeple Event Center at 701 Macon Ave, Canon City.
