Duane Lee Craig, age 77, beloved husband, father, brother, uncle, and grandfather, passed away on January 2, 2026, after a lengthy battle with Lewy Body Dementia. Duane was born on December 28, 1948, in Canon City, Colorado. Duane lived a life full of hard work, laughter, and love. Duane took immense pride in Roy’s Tru-Tred Tire Shop, the family business, and dedicated 30 years to it. Duane also worked for Canon Winnelson as a warehouseman. Duane enjoyed motorcycle riding, water skiing at Twin Lakes with his family, and being outdoors hiking with his wife, Kathy. Duane graduated from Canon City High School in 1967. Right after graduating from high school, Duane and his best friend, Gale Smith, took a trip to Florida (I am sure there were a lot of shenanigans). Duane is survived by his wife, Kathy Craig; sister, Carol (Will) Smith; son, Doug (Becca) Craig; grandchildren, Katrina Vierra, Hannah Craig, Hunter Gump, Caitlin Craig, and Brandon Craig; many nieces and nephews; and his special niece, Tina. Duane was preceded in death by his parents, Harold and Lillie May Craig, and his son, Rick Craig. In lieu of flowers, please consider donating to the Lewy Body Dementia Association. A special thank you to Sangre de Cristo Hospice, which made it possible for him to stay at home. No words can express our gratitude. Duane’s humor and warmth will be deeply missed.
Shower the people you love with love. Show them the way that you feel.—James Taylor
