Gary Hulsey Obituary

Gary Wayne Hulsey, age 58, a resident of Cañon City, passed away at his home on July 4, 2026. He was born on November 22, 1967, in Boaz, Alabama. Gary lived his life for his wife and two children. He was known by those who loved him as a loving and generous man whose steady presence brought comfort and strength to his family and friends.

Gary was the devoted husband of Linda Hernandez Hulsey, sharing 21 years of love and cherished memories. He was a devoted father to their children, Daniel McClure and Layla Hernandez, and a proud grandfather to Analia Mae McClure. He treasured his family, including his five beloved dogs—Rose, Dude, Winnie, Fatima, and Murphy. He took great pride in being the rock for his wife and children.

Gary was the son of Jimmy and Shirley Hulsey. He was preceded in death by his father, Jimmy Hulsey. He is also survived by his sisters, Delisa (Derrell) Fulenwider and Donna (Ric) Schaffer; his brother, Jamie (Rena) Hulsey; the late Paul Armstrong; and a host of nieces, nephews, great-nieces, and great-nephews.

Gary worked as a truck driver in the oil fields of West Texas before moving mobile homes in Colorado. His dream was always to live in Colorado, and he made that dream a reality five years ago when he moved to Pueblo West and later to Cañon City. He understood the importance of family and took great pride in providing for those he loved. His years of service in the Navy were also an important part of his life, reflecting his willingness to serve and his dedication to something greater than himself.

Those who knew Gary will remember his generous spirit and the way he made others feel valued. He had a quiet strength and a kind heart that left a lasting impression on everyone he met. Whether through his work or in his roles as a husband, father, son, brother, grandfather, and friend, Gary showed his love through hard work, unwavering dedication, and providing for his family. His life was one of sacrifice, devotion, and putting his wife and children first. To be loved by Gary was a blessing, and his memory will remain a source of comfort and strength for all who knew and loved him.
