Gerald "Jerry" Martinez

Gerald “Jerry” Martinez, of Covington, Georgia died Oct. 13, 2021.

He was born June 22 1949, in Florence Colorado, the son of late Max Martinez and Anita Huerta. He graduated from Florence High School.

Shortly after graduation, he joined the Air Force and was stationed in various countries where he learned a trade and about the culture. He worked as a counselor with juveniles, and individuals with substance abuse.  While working as a counselor in Arizona he met his late wife Teresa Martinez (Watson). He loved to keep up on the news in Fremont County. He also loved his Colorado sport teams.

 He had an infectious smile, that would lead to conversations with anyone that would converse with him, the conversation would end up in a friendly debate.

 He was a devoted and supportive son, brother, father and grandfather. He enjoyed nothing more than spending time with his family and frequently mentioned that family was the highlight of his life.

He was preceded in death by his brother, Rick, grandmother, grandfather as well as many aunts, uncles and cousins.

He is survived by Mother, Esther Martinez, sister Teresa (Ed Gurule), sister Linda (Brenda). He is also survived by children April, Ronnie, David of Arizona and Christina of Georgia. He is also survived by four grandchildren in Georgia, aunt, uncle and several cousins.

Graveside services will be held at Union Highland Cemetery, Florence on November 18, 2021 at 10:30 a.m.
