Geraldine Lynn Howard, of Penrose,
Colorado, passed away peacefully on March 31, 2025, at the age of 73. Born on June 28, 1951, Geraldine, affectionately known as Gerry,
graduated from Wentzville High School in 1969 and later from Pueblo
Community College in 1995, where she earned her nursing degree.
Gerry dedicated 22 years of her life to psychiatric nursing at Parkview Hospital from 1995 until her retirement in 2017. Prior to her nursing career, she worked as a certified nursing assistant at a progressive care center, a role she balanced with her studies in nursing school. A devoted wife, mother, and grandmother, Gerry's greatest joy came from her family. She was a constant presence at her children's and grandchildren's sporting events, always ready to offer cheers and support. Her love extended to her six grandchildren, whom she adored spoiling with pocket money and attention. Gerry's passion for family gatherings was evident in her love for hosting events, especially during Apple Days and Christmas, creating lasting memories with her famous red chili and festive celebrations. Gerry enjoyed spending quality time in the mountains at a cabin by the river, surrounded by nature and family. An avid fan of the St. Louis Cardinals, Gerry never missed a chance to show her team spirit and enjoyed attending numerous games. She also loved to watch The Denver Nuggets games. She had a love for music and dance, often turning up Elvis tracks to dance the mashed potato or do the twist. Date nights with her husband, Mike, were important to her; they were married July 10, 1979, in Fort Wayne, Indiana, and enjoyed 46 beautiful years of marriage. Gerry is survived by her loving husband, Michael Howard; children, James Daly, Matthew Howard (Ceri), and Ashley Atencio (Brian); grandchildren, Tanner Daly, Cayden Howard, Case Howard, Ashton Atencio, Briana Masopust, and Zerick Atencio; sister, Patty Suellentrop (Steve); brother, James Cummings; nieces, Jill Walsh (Kevin) and Jamie Anselm (Rick); nephews, Jeff Schulte and Bart Suellentrop (Jenny); along with greatnieces and great-nephews, and her mother-in-law, Deloris Howard. She was preceded in death by her parents, Clarence and Mildred Cummings, and her sister, Theresa Schulte.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to St. Jude to support cancer research, a cause dear to Gerry's heart. Her legacy of love, care, and spirited enthusiasm will be deeply missed by all who knew her.
