Glen William Phelps

Glen William Phelps, 97, of Canon City, passed away November 15, 2022.  He was born on August 6, 1925 to William and Nora Phelps in West Frankfort, Illinois.  He was married to Mildred Lorraine (Lawson) Phelps who preceded him in death after 65 years of marriage.  Glen is survived by one daughter, Janice (Phelps) Pond and John Hamilton Pond, son-in-law, of Mesa, Arizona; Jennifer Michelle (Pond) Schafer of Gilbert, Arizona, granddaughter; and Matthew Christopher Schafer of Flagstaff, Arizona, great grandson. 

Glen belonged to the Masonic Lodge of South Denver and El Jebel Shrine in Denver.  He was a pilot in World War II and flew P-51’s during his time in the Army Air Corps. He was a contractor in the Denver area before retiring to Canon City in 2002.  Graveside services will be held on December 5, 2022 at 10:00 a.m. at Lakewood Cemetery.
