Helen Louise Hewitt

Helen Louise Hewitt, born on March 22, 1937, in Cañon City, Colorado, passed away on June 30, 2026, in the same beloved community she called home throughout her life.

Preceded in death by her parents, Clarence and Ethel Hewitt; her brother, Clyde Lee Hewitt; and her sons Jimmy Duane Galleger and Donald “Donny” Lee Galleger.  She is survived by her granddaughters, Adrienne Louise (David) Bash of Houston, TX, and Alicia Ann Heard (Dustin) of Littleton, CO, and her great-grandson, Quinn David Bash of Houston, TX.

Helen spent her career in the nursing field and was a dutiful caregiver to all those in her life.  In her retirement, Helen spent time volunteering in her community.

Helen had a deep love for animals. She welcomed abandoned dogs into her home and made sure every neighborhood cat had a full belly.  Her compassion also extended to people who were down on their luck and needed a helping hand.  Helen was a devoted follower of Christ and loved collecting teapots. 

Helen will be loved and missed by all who knew her during her long, meaningful life.  In lieu of flowers, donations are requested for the Humane Society of Fremont County. 

A service will be held honoring Helen’s life on Friday, July 31st, 9 am at The Steeple Event Center.
