Hope "Marie" Rodenbeck Obituary

Hope “Marie” Rodenbeck, of Canon City passed away surrounded by her loving family on July 16, 2021.  Marie was born December 8, 1941 in Pueblo, Colorado;  the only child of George Richard and Violet May (Harness) Nordyke. Her family moved to Florence, Colorado when she was 10 years old, and she attended Florence Schools.

Her husband Ed G. Rodenbeck Jr.  remembers first meeting her 12 October 1956 when she and a friend were walking along a road and needed a ride home.  It was years later, when they reconnected and married. Marie’s dream was always to work in a hospital nursery. When that did not materialize, she dedicated herself to the elderly. After her children were raised, she worked eight years as a CNA before obtaining her LPN and then her RN Degree. She spent 26 years as a Charge Nurse in various nursing homes. From Canon City to Rocky Ford, Colorado. Including CCCF, the Private Prison in Olney Springs, Colorado for one and a half years.  Marie was dedicated to the patients she cared for and is remembered as a woman of impeccable character and integrity, always above reproach. She was a Cat and Dog lover her entire life.

One of her son’s remembers this sage advice his mother gave him when he was facing something difficult. Mom would tell me to always remember “You are Smarter than you think, Braver than you believe, Stronger than you seem and Loved more than you know. The first three I had my doubts about. The last one I never questioned’.

Her daughter say’s “she will always remember her as her best friend.”

She leaves to cherish her memory her husband Ed, children Richard Auldin Rodenbeck, David Charles (Char) Rodenbeck, Doug Wayne (Kevin) Rodenbeck, Darryl Scott (Angie) Rodenbeck and  Kathy Marie Rodenbeck; Eleven grandchildren Kellie, Jessica, R.J., Shawna, Stacy Jo, April, Amanda, Amber, Emily, Tim and Tyler; 24 great-grandchildren and 4 great-great-grandchildren.  She also leaves behind her beloved Black Toy Poodle “Nikki”.

She was predeceased by her parents, son Johnny Duane Hand and great-granddaughter Paige Alexandra Robinson.
