Jacqueline Geesaman Obituary

Jacqueline Ann (Madell) Geesaman passed away on Tuesday, April 2nd, 2024, following a struggle with multiple myeloma and leukemia. Jackie was born on November 8, 1941, in Chicago, Il, to Dr. John and Ruth (Huleatt) Madell. She was welcomed by brothers Jim and John. After attending St. Barbara's Elementary School and Nazareth Academy, Jackie received a BS in Speech Therapy from Marquette University, Milwaukee, WI. Hearing the call to move west, Jackie taught in Boulder, CO before deciding on her true vocation as a first-grade teacher. She not only received her MA degree in Elementary Education at Adams State College in Alamosa, but also met her best friend and true love, Mike Geesaman. They were married in 1971 and moved to Canon City, CO in 1972 to begin lengthy teaching careers. Jackie found deep happiness in her next role as mother to their three sons, Michael, Matthew and David. She was privileged to stay home with her boys while serving as a school room mother, Cub Scout and Boy Scout leader and avid football, basketball and soccer fan. Jackie then returned to her beloved first grade classroom at Lincoln Elementary where she felt fortunate to introduce her students to the joys of learning, particularly reading. She was often caught smiling with pride as her students exhibited their new-found skills. Jackie loved her Catholic faith and was an active member of St. Michael's Parish for over 50 years. She served in many areas including religious education, hospitality, and Vacation Bible School. Jackie was preceded in death by her parents and brothers. She is survived by her husband Mike and sons Michael (Holly), Matthew (Kristen), David (Juliet) and grandsons Noah, Connor, Otto and Calvin; and a very special sister-in-law, Maureen Madell. Funeral services will be held at St. Michael Catholic Church on Friday, April 19th, 2024, with a Mass of Christian Burial at starting at 10:00 AM. A dinner will be provided at the church hall following the funeral. Graveside service at Lakeside Cemetery at 2:30 PM. In lieu of flowers, please send donations to smiletrain.org in Jackie's memory
