James Duval Obituary

James Leo Duval was born of October 20, 1947 in Winchendon, Mass. He passed away October 13, 2021 in Canon City, CO due to complications of  COVID. He was the son of Theodore and Evelyn Duval (deceased) from Winchendon, MA. Jim had two brothers, Steven and Paul who preceded him in death. He also has a brother Alfred and two sisters Sandy and Linda all of whom reside in Massachusetts. James married Wanda (Lohnes) on October 24, 1969 in Brunswick, GA. Jim and Wanda had three children, two daughters Tonya (Chris) Wolf,  and Janel Schrank (Joshua Foreman), who reside in Canon City. They had one son James (JC) (Jenny) Duval, who reside in Florence, CO. Jim has eight grand children Kyrsti, Nolan, Bryton (Miriam), Brandon (Cambrea), James, Kaylan, Nicholas, and Shiann. He was also blessed with six great grandchildren, Jared, Silas, Bodhi, Aspyn, Laiken, and Palmyra. Another great grandchild is expected in November.

Jim joined the Navy right out of High School and spent six years serving his country. He was very proud to be a veteran and belonged to the American Legion in Laurens, SC. Jim lived in upstate NY for several years and lived in Brunswick, GA for almost eight years. Jim moved to Canon City in the early 80s. He worked for Berta Bros Transportation in Penrose. He also spent several years working for El Paso Floors in Colorado Springs, installing and finishing hardwood floors. He worked for Southern Peaks Residential Treatment Center doing maintenance before retiring. He truly enjoyed working with the tougher kids and getting to know their stories. In his spare time he enjoyed, camping, fishing, being outdoors, playing cards and spending time with family. Just over two years ago he decided he wanted to move back down to the South. He and Wanda bought a home in Clinton, SC where he thoroughly enjoyed southern living.

The thing that Jim loved the most in life and what he was most proud of was his three children, eight grandchildren, and six great grandchildren. He will be greatly missed by family and friends.
