James McCulla, 74, passed away at his home in the Colorado Mountains. Born and raised in Homer, MI, Jim joined the US Army in 1967. He was a decorated veteran of the Vietnam War. A member of Recon Platoon, 5th Battalion, 60th Infantry, 9th Infantry Division, he was awarded 2 Purple Hearts and a Bronze Star for his sacrifices as he helped others. He moved to Colorado in the late 70’s, creating a lifelong home and worked as a corrections officer for the CO Department of Corrections for over 20 years. He will be remembered always by his remaining family, daughter Reagan (McCulla) Blanton and granddaughter Taylor Colotti. He was preceded in death by his mother Jeanne and father Les.
