James A. Picco, “Jim”, 91 of Rockvale, CO passed away January 10, 2021. He was born October 17, 1929 to John and Minnie (Ciri) Picco in Rockvale, Colorado. After high school, Jim served his country in the United State Army 2nd Infantry Division during the Korean War from 1951-1952.
Most people will remember Jim from his years with the Penrose-Florence Re-2 school district where he was the custodian at Florence High School. He loved getting to know the students and became a mentor to many over the years.
Jim loved living on the Picco Farm, riding his horses, tending to the garden, taking care of the livestock, raising his birds and most of all spending time with his grandkids.
He is survived by his daughter Sandra Picco, sons Kenneth Picco, Russell Picco; grandchildren Ryan, Shianna, Braden and sister Katherine Dell, numerous nieces and nephews and great-grandkids.
He is preceded in death by his parents, sons James Picco and Daniel Picco, siblings Phyliss, Johnny and Charles and grandson Daniel.
A celebration of life will be held 10:00am, Wednesday, January 20, 2021 at Harwood Chapel, 516 N. 10th Street, Canon City, CO with burial to follow at Lakeside Cemetery. Online condolences at Harwoodfunerals.com. Arrangements entrusted to Harwood Funeral Home.
