Janette Usher Obituary

Janette Elizabeth Usher passed away on December 17, 2024 at the age of 81 in Canon City, Colorado after a graceful battle with end-stage dementia.  Born on December 1, 1943, in Temple, Texas, Janette’s life was a testament to her unwavering spirit, compassion and dedication to community and family.

Janette’s journey was one of dedication and perseverance.  Her early years in the banking industry laid the foundation for a career marked by ambition and service.  As she moved up the ranks in the financial community her talents eventually took her into the world of mortgage loans.  Her hard work and expertise culminated in her greatest professional achievement - owning her own mortgage company and helping those who thought homeownership was beyond their reach.

Her commitment to service extended beyond her professional life with unwavering devotion to her faith. She was a lifelong learner, a seeker of knowledge, and a wise mentor to many.  Her wisdom was matched only by her generosity, as she served faithfully in The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, assuming many roles and guiding others with her gentle spirit.

Janette’s love for people was unmistakable, and she was best described by those who knew her as loving, kind and selfless.  These attributes shone brightly in her role as a matriarch, and she was the cherished center of a loving family.  Though she was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Norman Usher, and her son, Jeffrey Usher, her legacy lives on through her daughters, Annette Redford (Don Redford) and Lisa Larsen (Erik Larsen).  She was the proud grandmother to nine grandchildren and eleven great-grandchildren, each of whom brought immense joy and pride to her life.

Her interests were as diverse as they were heartfelt.  She was a voracious reader, her mind always eager to learn and explore new ideas.  She found joy in cooking, her recipes a legacy of her love.  She expressed her creativity through various crafts and her love for the outdoors was evident in her passion for camping, boating and soaking up the sun.

Janette’s passing leaves a void in the hearts of those who were fortunate enough to know her.  Yet, her spirit endures in the lives she touched, the community she improved, and the family she adored.  Her life was a testament to the beauty that can be created through kindness, hard work, and an unyielding commitment to making the world a better place.

As we reflect on Janette’s remarkable life, let us carry her example forward.  Let us embrace her kindness in our actions, her generosity in our giving, and her wisdom in our decisions.  Though her physical presence has left us, her spirit endures, a guiding light for all who had the privilege to know her.

Janettes’ life will be commemorated on Friday, December 27th at 11:00 am at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints located at 1435 Elm Avenue, Canon City, Colorado. Her family will gather to honor her memory, share stories of her life, and continue the legacy of love and strength that she has left behind.
