Jeanette Kay Chappel, 80 years old, of Canon City CO was taken home peacefully by the Lord Dec 2, 2023 at Penrose Hospital in Colorado Springs CO. Jeanette was born November 13, 1943 in Macomb, Illinois and was raised alongside 8 siblings by Maxine and Chester Goodin. She married William Chappel May 22, 1968 in Illinois and they moved to Colorado in 1970 to enjoy the beauty of living in the mountains. She was a waitress at various places, but the one she spoke of most was the Salida Inn in Salida. Her favorite time in life was when they adopted their daughter Misty Dawn Chappel in 1974. She loved being a Mother and enjoyed taking Misty places to show her friends and family. Later in life she enjoyed being a grandma to Brianna and Garrett and never missed an event, show, concert, or game if she could help it. Her hobbies and interest included spending time in the mountains, fishing, camping, and hunting. Later she found enjoyment in yard sales and finding bargains for herself, family and friends. She was known for being one of the first to arrive looking for the best deals. After her daughter married and moved out she purchased her first rental, and found enjoyment in putting tic into houses to create homes for her tenants to enjoy. She would do everything from cleaning, to drywall, to plumbing, you name it she would do it. After her husband passed in 2004, she met and enjoyed friendship and companionship with Jerry Coleman of Williamsburg. The would regularly attend dances at the senior citizens centers in Canon City and Florence. She loved to have her daughter do her hair and get dressed up to go dancing. She is survived by her daughter Misty and son in law Warren Heifner of Howard, grandchildren Brianna (Johnny) Scoleri of Canon City, Garrett Heifner of Salida, twin sister Janet Cook of Canon City, sister Clyta Norton of Missouri, brother Bob (Linda) Goodin of Iowa, brother Bill (Diane) Goodin of Tennessee, and numerous nieces and nephews and 1 brother in law Dean (Wilma) Chappel, and 2 sister in laws Charlene Chappel of Illinois and Wanda Bishop of Kentucky. Jeanette will be remembered as one of the hardest working women most have ever met. She loved working, and though many encouraged her to stop, she worked right up to the last. She loved visiting with friends and family and had a feisty spirit about her and will forever be cherished and missed by many. She is once again dancing in Heaven. A celebration of life will be held at 1:00pm on Monday, December 18, 2023 at the Steeple Event Center, 701 Macon Avenue Canon City, CO, 81212.
