Jimmie Glover Obituary

Jimmie W. Glover, a devoted and loving husband, father, grandfather, and friend was born May 2, 1946  in Adair County, Iowa to Keith Glover and Dortha Draman. Due to rain and flooded roads, he was delivered by his grandmother Hazel Draman, the doctor arrived two days later.

Jimmie grew up in Greenfield, Iowa. He graduated from Greenfield High School and the Midwest School of Business in Omaha, Nebraska. He served honorably in the U.S. Army 1966 – 1968 withy USAREVR Technical Intelligence Center in Heidelberg, Germany. He began his career with the JC Penney Co., Winterset, Iowa in 1968. He came to Canon City, CO. in early 1971 as a trainee for the company.

He met and married Jeannine Rush on May 27, 1972, in 1973 he was transferred to Gallup, New Mexico and then returned to manage JC Penney in Canon City in 1983. He retired when the store closed at the end of 1992. He worked for Zale’s in Colorado Springs, CO. and retired in 2012. He and Jeannine enjoyed traveling the USA, Europe, the UK, and trips to Japan.

He passed peacefully to his heavenly reward surrounded by the love of family and friends with rapid Alzheimer’s disease. He was cared for by his wife and close friends with the help of the angels on earth at Fremont Regional Hospice from June 23 until his passing.

He was preceded in death by his parents Keith and Dortha Glover, beloved older sister Sonja, mother-in-law Adelaide Rush and his buddy, Frank Jaquez. He is survived by his wife Jeannine, their son John R. Glover, daughter in law Yomiko Glover, grandson Renzo Glover, sister-in-law Jennifer Justis, niece Jenni Bedore, grandnephews Brendan Mandeville, and Holden (Emily) Mandeville and great grandniece Naomi Mandeville, other nieces and nephews and cousins survive him. He is also survived by dear friends Gary, and Louise Oldenburg, Linda Jaquez, Barb Poole, Pete and Pam Meyendert, Dick and Sharon, Barth, Ron, and Dawn Claflin, and their families.

Thank you to the neighbors especially Owen and Austin Chace, and Mike and Carol Paine for their help at this difficult time. The family wishes to thank Dr. Marc and Joan Sindler, and the wonderful staff at Sindler Family Practice for over 30 years of care. Those who wish, please make a donation to Fremont Reginal Hospice. Thank you to the staff and his caregivers Leah, Erin, Jessica, Lisa, and Rob. Thank you to Jeannine’s caring sisters of Chapter AC P.E.O.

At Jimmie’s request, cremation has taken place and no services. He loved good music, great food, wine, being with family, friends, attending and watching FI and Indy Car Races.
