Johnnie Martinez passed away September 21, 2021 in Colorado Springs, Colorado. Johnnie was born in Florence, Colorado on March 8, 1937 to Joe and Tonita Martinez. Johnnie grew up in Canon City helping his father in the fields. He was an incredible athlete playing baseball, fast pitch softball, and bowling. Johnnie and Alberta Martinez welcomed three children, Theresa Martinez in May of 1968, Becky Martinez in May of 1972, and Kerry Martinez in October of 1979. Johnnie was a very hard worker and spent most of his life in construction. Anytime anyone needed something fixed, he was there to fix it. One of Johnnie's projects was helping build the 4th Street Bridge in Canon City, Colorado. Johnnie enjoyed camping, fishing, and hunting. Johnnie's best days were spent drinking beer with the family and playing poker. Johnnie was a proud grandfather who loved spending time with his grandchildren. Johnnie was a simple man who enjoyed the simplest things in life. Johnnie is survived by his three daughters, Theresa Craig, Becky (Dave) Louk, and Kerry Martinez (Joe); four grandchildren; Shelby Leanne, Eythan Douglas, Caitlin Craig, and Brandon Craig; brother Joe (Carol) Martinez; sister Theresa Whitney; as well as numerous nieces, nephews, and good friends. He was preceded in death by his parents Joe and Tonita Martinez; brothers Ruben, Michael, Freddie, Abel; son in-law Rick Craig and grandson Cody Louk.
