Katherine E. Schauer

Katherine “Kathy” E. Schauer, 82, of Canon City, passed away April 29, 2021 in Colorado Springs, CO.  She was born November 13, 1938 in La Junta, Colorado to Franklin and Lucille (Skinner) Klein.  Kathy spent her childhood in Bakersfield, CA, but made her way back to Colorado where she attended Otero Junior College.  It was during this time that she met Jim Schauer, the love of her life, whom she married in 1964 and together raised four wonderful children.  Anyone that knew Kathy understood that her husband and family were her life.  She was the quintessential wife and mother – cooking, keeping house, getting the kids off to school, enrolling them in sports activities and cheering them on, wiping away tears and guiding them through life’s ups and downs. All traits of a remarkable women and traits that continued with her attention to her grandkids, whom she spoiled to no end.  She leaves to cherish her memory, Jim, her husband of 56 years, children Cynthia Schauer, Lisa (Jake) Hogan, Jim A. (Kamila) Schauer, Michael S. (Leah) Schauer; grandchildren James G. Schauer, Kassidee Kay Schauer, Jill Hogan, Hannah, Natalie and Ella Schauer and Nolan, Mylie and Lanie Schauer.  She was predeceased by her parents, stepmother Irene Klein and siblings Keith, Jake and Patty.  A celebration of life will be held 10AM, Saturday, June 5, 2021 at Harwood Funeral Home, 516 N. 10th Street, Canon City, CO 81212.
