In a world so full of dark you could always rely on Lovena to be your light. A voice soft spoken, full of smiles and always up to grab a bite. Lovena was a warrior and never backed down from a fight. After at 15+ year long battle with cancer Lovena Richardson, 64, of Canon City, Colorado, lost her battle on December 21st, 2023.
She was born in Denver, 1958 to Frank and Thersia Bullock. As a child she was active in karate, earning her purple belt. She loved fast cars, enjoyed fishing, shopping with her mom, and hanging out with her family and friends. Showers of memories from loved ones of sparring with her in karate, hunting stories, and when they all had to push her brother's car to get it started after watching a movie. She will always be remembered as their baby sister. Lovena will always be remembered for obtaining the unique Indian name of Two Spoons Richardson.
Lovena attended Green Mountain High School before becoming a real estate agent, insurance agent and held other odds and ends jobs to include being a notary. She was never afraid to work multiple jobs at a time and worked hard to achieve her licenses while raising her 2 children. Her love and passion for her animals was evident by the stories and pictures she would share with pride. Lovena had a soft spot for her furry friends, treating each and every one like the valuable family members they are. Always wanting to adopt the elderly unwanted pets.
She met Troy Richardson in November of 1980 in Canon City and he described her to his family as his “excellent, just excellent”. After only knowing each other for 2.5 months, they married and she happily put up with his shenanigans for 42 years. Troy and Lovena couldn’t wait to start a family of their own, and their children meant the world to them. Their son Tyler was born in December, 1981 and their daughter Tara was brought home on Super Bowl Sunday in 1985. Though she loved her children, husband and pets, Lovena’s favorite role was that as a grandparent. She treasured her time with her grand and great grandchildren.
Lovena will always be remembered for her generosity and the way she was always willing to go out of her way to help anyone out. We’ll always imagine hearing her say “Troy!” after he told a dirty joke or “love you kiddo” one more time. We couldn’t have asked for a better wife, mother, nana, and grandma and will miss her every day. Her memory will live on forever in the hearts of all those who knew and loved her.
Lovena was preceded in death by her parents Frank and Thersia Bullock, brother- in-laws; Todd and Rod Richardson, nieces; Christy Bullock and Carly Richardson, and is survived by husband; Troy Richardson, children; Tyler (Cortney) Richardson and Tara Richardson, siblings; Jennie (Richard) Morrow, Joe (Patty) Bullock, Floyd (Pam) Bullock and Travis (Mary) Richardson, grandchildren; Abagail (Dylan) Oxley, Emilee Richardson (Matthew Perkins), Klowie, Duane and Jaxon Smith, Tate Richardson, Xander Lessard, Freya Richardson and her great grandchildren Braxton and Emerson Oxley as well as numerous nieces and nephews. Her funeral and celebration of life will be held on Saturday December 30th at 11am at the Steeple Event Center 701 Macon Ave. Canon City, Colorado. Donations to the Humane Society would be greatly appreciated in lieu of flowers.
