Marjorie Marie Gerring

Marjorie Marie Gerring, age 90 years 8 months, went to be with her Lord and Savior on
the evening of January 8 th , 2021. She left this earth in no pain and in her bed at her home at
Vali Assisted Living in Silver Cliff, Colorado. Marj was born on May 8 th , 1930 to Clinton and Doris
(Moore) Burns in Flint, Michigan. She was raised with sisters; Ila, Audrey, and Ada together
with brothers; Gene, Jim and Bill who all proceeded her in death. She met and married the
love of her life Eldon Ray Gerring in 1947. Their family began with the birth of their daughter
Dianne Marie (Call) Gerring, who passed away 10 days prior to Marjorie. Their two sons Richard
Ray Gerring and Eldon Ray (Bud) Gerring, Jr. soon followed in that union.
Marjorie, and husband Eldon, owned and operated several small successful businesses
over the years. Marj also spent some of her working life as a bank teller and as a chair side
dental assistant. With some success in real estate investing and upon the selling of their
business interests Eldon and Marjorie retired to Florida in their mid-50’s where they enjoyed
life together until Eldon’s passing in 2003. Marjorie moved to Silver Cliff, Colorado in 2016
where she resided until her passing. Marjorie was not only a daughter, sister, wife, mother and
friend but a life time member of the Eastern Stars, and a girl scout leader. In her later years she
enjoyed quilting, traveling with her husband and working and singing in her church.
Marjorie is survived by her two sons Richard and his wife Jennifer Gerring of Cotopaxi,
Colorado and Eldon (Bud) and his wife Shelly Gerring of Reed city, Michigan along with son-in-
law Cecil R. Call, Jr. of Elkton, Virginia. Two grandsons Paul and Luke Gerring went to be with
the Lord early in their lives. Surviving grandchildren: Traci M. (Call) Pitts and husband Marty
Pitts, Joel R. Gerring and wife Trisha, Rachel R. (Gerring) DeKleyn and husband Eric DeKleyn,
Shawn D. Diamond, Gabriel R. Gerring and wife Marcia, Charlene M. (Gerring) Searing and
husband Mike Searing, Hannah J. (Gerring) Sengelaub and husband Derek Sengelaub and
Joseph J. Gerring. In addition 15 great grandchildren and 4 great, great grandchildren will
continue to grow this family tree for generations to come.
We will be celebrating Marjorie’s life this coming spring in South Boardman, Michigan
where she will be laid to rest beside her beloved husband of 57 years.
COVID being what it is, the family is requesting that in lieu of flowers or other types of
memorials that one could make a donation in memory of Marj to: Vali Assisted Living, 30 Main
Street, Silver Cliff, Colorado 81252. Vali was her home for the last five years of her life and the
small group of people there truly became her family. Vali has several ongoing building and
repair projects and any funds would be greatly appreciated.
