Michael "Mike" Lareau Obituary

Michael "Mike" Thomas Lareau passed away on May 27, 2023 in Canon City Colorado. Michael was born on January 14th, 1953 in Denver, Colorado to Harold E. and Lucille M. Lareau. 

He was the brother of Sharon Lareau, Donna Lareau (John Shouse), Patrick Lareau (Christi Sardakowski), Douglas (Laurie) Lareau.

Michael attended Merritt Hutton High School. He then went on to serve in the U.S. Army where he used his VA benefit and graduated air craft mechanic school after he served. Several awards and designations were given to him such as, National Defense Service Medal, Sharpshooter Badge w/ M16, and expert badge with hand grenade.

Being a jack of all trades Michael did several kinds of work including: Plumbing, electrical, dry wall, ornamental plaster and concrete.  He worked for the United Sign company in Denver throughout the 80's and he was proud of the work he contributed to the Denver Union Station and the rail road cars for the Royal Gorge Train. Working for Callahan construction was also a highlight of his work life. 

Mike loved rebuilding classic cars like his father's old 68 for pickup and the 71 El Camino. A lover of the mountains, fishing, boating, and going to the family cabin. He was a very talented artist and could hand craft about anything you could think of. He was so very proud of his 3 daughters, and all their accomplishments in life. He loved all animals and instilled the love for animals in his 3 daughters.

Michael is survived by his 3 daughter, Maura Lareau (Beau Fifield), Megan Sillaman, and Molly Alvarez (Brandon). Grandchildren, Eldon, James, Maeva, Grady Niehues, Dillon and Dennis Sillaman, and Mateo Alvarez. Nieces and Nephews, Laury Ann Katchen, Bradley Madron, Dawn Marie Swartzendruber, Courtney Lareau, Ashley Lareau, Kaleb Lareau, Skyler Lareau, Aspen Powers and Avery Lareau.

He is proceeded in death by his parents Harold and Lucille Lareau.

Services will be held Wednesday June 21, 2023 at Ft. Logan National Cemetery in Denver, Colorado at 1 P.M. Followed by a celebration of life at the VFW Post #9644 Verle Huffman Post in Sheridan, Colorado at 2 P.M.
