Michelle Marie McBride

Michelle Marie McBride, 61 was called home to her Lord and Savior unexpectedly on Tuesday May 2, 2023. Michelle was born on February 13, 1962, in Canon City, Colorado, the middle daughter to Nile and Maxine McBride. Michelle was a graduate of Canon City High School, class of 1980. Pursuing her passion for serving and caring for others, Michelle obtained her nursing degree and throughout the years she performed her duties as a nurse in a selfless and honorable manner. She enjoyed spending time with her family, often organizing family functions and events. Michelle enjoyed watching the sporting/scholastic events of her children and her grandchildren and quickly became a fixture in the stands during wresting tournaments or band performances with a Pepsi in hand. Michelle loved Oklahoma Sooner football, any given Saturday in the fall you could catch her watching a game and yelling "Boomer Sooner"! Michelle was committed to help others; throughout her nearly 40 years as a nurse she made a memorable impact on her patients and people she worked with. At work, Michelle was unwavering in her desire to stand up for what is right even if it meant she was standing alone. Michelle loved her patients, and she loved her co-workers. Michelle loved the outdoors. She was a gifted angler who enjoyed the warm weather and hard water alike. Michelle enjoyed fishing from kayaks with her niece and nephew. Michelle enjoyed camping, even pulling her own camper with her beloved truck Black Betty. It is safe to say the population of fish in Colorado is sure to increase with Michelle's fishing pole out of the water. Later in life Michelle adopted two kittens who became a major force in her life. She adored Sebastian and Deliah and they brought much comfort and joy in her daily life. Michelle was a mother, sister, aunt, grandmother, and friend to everyone she encountered. Michelle was kind, giving and will be deeply missed by all who knew her. Michelle is survived by her sons, Justin (Jamie) McBride and Josh (Megan) McBride; Grandchildren, Bailey (Aurora) McBride, Chandler Atkins, and Kelsey (Austin) Welles; Sister, Shari (Virgil) Fontenot; Nieces and Nephews, Angie (Shad) Smith, Christian McBride, Stetson McBride, Donovan McBride-Smith, Devon (Hannah) Fontenot, Joslyn Fontenot, and soon to be Great Grandbaby McBride. She is preceded in death by her parents, Nile and Maxine McBride and her sister Pamela Deleau. 

Services will be held on Wednesday May 10, 2023, at 10:00 A.M. at the Steeple Event & Conference Center, 701 Macon Avenue, Canon City, CO with a reception to follow.
