Norman Preston Usher, known affectionately as Norm to his friends and family, passed away peacefully on November 27, 2024, in Canon City, Colorado, at the age of 82. Born on July 18, 1942, in Hollis, Maine, Norm's early years were marked by the same integrity, passion, and dedication that would define his entire life.
Norm's journey led him to a distinguished career in the United States Army, where he served his country with honor for 21 years, retiring as a 1st Sergeant. His commitment to service and country was unwavering, and the leadership and strength he exhibited earned him the respect and admiration of his peers and subordinates alike.
After his military career, Norm's love for hands-on work found new expression in his hobbies. Norm had a great love and knowledge of all firearms. His fondness for the outdoors was evident in his enthusiasm for fishing and boating, activities that brought him peace and joy. His skills extended to fixing up old cars and renovating houses, transforming the old and forgotten into treasures that reflected his hard work and creativity.
Above all, Norm was a family man. He is survived and lovingly remembered by his devoted wife, Janette Usher, with whom he built a lifetime of memories. Their love and partnership were the bedrock of their family, a source of strength for their children, Annette Redford (married to Don Redford) and Lisa Larsen (married to Erik Larsen). Norm was predeceased by his son, Jeff Usher, whose memory remained dear to him. His legacy continues through his nine grandchildren and eleven great-grandchildren, who brought immense joy and pride to his life.
Norm's presence was a gift to those around him, and his absence will be deeply felt. His life was a testament to the values of dedication, service, and family. Norm will be remembered as a man who embraced life's challenges with courage and faced each day with a heart full of love for his family.

Norm's life will be commemorated on Monday, December 2nd at 11:00 am at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints located at 1435 Elm Avenue, Canon City, Colorado. His family will gather to honor his memory, share stories of his life, and continue the legacy of love and strength that he has left behind.
