It is with deep sorrow and much love that we announce the passing of Norva Cordova, who departed this life on June 17, 2025 at the age of 87 in Cañon City, Colorado.
Norva was born on May 22, 1938 in Corning, New York to Adna and Bernace Ingersoll. She grew up in Cameron Mills, New York, attending a two-room grade school before moving on to Addison Central High School, where she was both a baton twirler and a cheerleader. After graduating, she joined the Air Force and was stationed at Lowry Air Force Base in Denver, where she met her future husband, Al Cordova.
Norva was a loving, supportive, and generous soul who always put others before herself, becoming a surrogate mom to many beyond her own three children. Her kindness and easy-going nature touched countless lives through her and Al’s active involvement in the Jaycees and Norva’s dedicated support of Corpus Christi Catholic Church, where she coordinated adult education programs. After living in six different states, Norva and Al retired to Cañon City, Colorado, near Al’s hometown of Florence, Colorado. In retirement, she pursued her passion for genealogy, which led her to join the Daughters of the American Revolution (DAR). Her creativity and dedication were nationally recognized for designing and creating a Braille American Flag, and over her 20 years in the DAR, she made and provided hundreds of these flags to people across the country.
Norva is survived by her husband of 67 years, Al Cordova; children, Denise Boivin (Jeff), Dawn Hayward, and Mario Cordova (Patty); eight grandchildren and 4 great-grandchildren; as well as numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, Adna and Bernace Ingersoll, her siblings, Maude, Mervin, Bernita, and Elwyn, her nieces Michaelyn and Kathy, and her nephew Shawn.
Norva will be dearly missed and forever remembered.
A celebration of life will be held Monday, June 23, 2025, at 11 A.M. at the Steeple Event Center, 701 Macon Ave. in Canon City, Colorado.
