Richard Kenyon Obituary

Richard Orley Kenyon, 83 passed away peacefully at home in Canon City, Colorado on April 13, 2025 with his family by his side. Richard was born on July 23, 1941 in Harmony, Minnesota, son of Orley and Alvina (Paulson) Kenyon. He attended school in Canton, MN and graduated from Harmony High School.

In 1962, he married Gloria, his high school sweetheart. In 1975, he moved with his wife and sons to Sitka, Alaska, and eventually settling in Big Lake, Alaska where Richard worked as a lineman for 45 years, and raised their three boys. After Gloria’s passing in 2011, Richard eventually moved to Colorado, and spent his last years in Canon City with his sons Steven (Linann), and David.

Richard enjoyed many outdoor activities with his children and grandchildren including hunting and fishing with his boys. Richard enjoyed working out in his garage, gardening to include a greenhouse, and one of his all time favorite accomplishments is coming to Colorado and climbing and driving to the tops of Pikes Peak.

He is survived by his sons; Steven (Linann), Douglas, and David. Granddaughters; Lisa (Bogan), Tabitha (Andy), and Amber. Great grandchildren; Madalyn, Emery, Millie, Alice, Azriel, and Atreus.

He is also survived by siblings; Gerald (Judy) Kenyon, Kathy Spores, Neil (Sue) Kenyon, Mike (Cheryl) Kenyon, and Karen Sandry, along with many nieces and nephews, and other relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents Orley and Alvina Kenyon, his wife of 49 years Gloria, brother-in-law’s Sheldon Spores and Bill Sandry, and nephew Curtis Kenyon.

A celebration of life will be held at a later date in Harmony, Minnesota. Per Richards wishes he will be cremated, and will be reunited with his wife Gloria, and their family dogs in Henrytown Cemetery.
