Russell Larsen Obituary

Russell James Larsen, long-time Cañon City resident and Colorado native, passed away on Saturday, July 23, 2022 with a host of loving family members at his side. His death is a result of a tragic accident involving tree trimming work on Wednesday, July 20, 2022. Russell was born February 17, 1994 to Jaymie Auten Hunt (Surprise, AZ) and Erik Stephen Larsen (Cañon
City, CO) in Colorado Springs, CO. He was the third precious son born to the couple. He was named for his paternal great-grandfather, Russell Frandsen, and maternal
grandfather, James Auten. Russell was a skilled mechanic who would do anything for anyone, even those who would take advantage of that trait in him. If he knew of a situation where he could help someone or be of service to someone, he would do it without hesitation. He was a dedicated, loving father to his three beautiful
children and worked hard to support them. Russell's sense of humor was unmatched in the opinions of those who knew and loved him. His quick wit
and disarming smile quickly made him a friend to all. His sparkly blue eyes were a sight to behold. He was a smiley, feisty, dare-devil of child who grew to be an intuitive, warm, hard-working man. Russell knew adversity and challenges during his short life, particularly the last few years, that would have crushed a lesser man. The tenacity he displayed as a young person served him well recently as he continued to put one foot in front of the other to improve his station in life. He will always be remembered for his sweet words in times of need, his love of animals, his knack for connecting with small children, and his incredible ability to laugh and to make others laugh, even in difficult moments. In a final act of service, Russell gave the gift of life to three fellow members of humanity by donating his kidneys and his strong, beautiful, loving heart. His family's hope is that these recipients have long,
happy, successful lives and that his legacy of giving, loving, and serving will continue on in them and their posterity. Russell is preceded in death by his grandfather, Stephen Burt Larsen, niece, Angel Larsen, his beloved friend, Judith Ann Gaffney Davis, and his uncle, Daniel Michaely. Russell is survived by his mother, Jaymie Hunt (Russell
Hunt), his father, Erik Larsen (Lisa Larsen), siblings Pierce Larsen (Tarryn), Nils Nodland, Cameron Larsen (Esty Amaya-Nunez), Kyle Schaffer, Kathleen Larsen (Justin Rangel), Hayden Buford, Kinsey Larsen, McLane Buford, Monique Buford, and children Radley James Larsen, Russell Zane Larsen, and Raelynn Ann Larsen. He is also survived by many aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, nephews, and grandparents who adore him tremendously, as well as loyal friends, who all will miss him dearly in this life, but have faith
that they will see him again in the life to come. The family will hold a private memorial service in the near future.
