Ruth L McCumber, 85, got her angel wings January 21, 2020. She passed peacefully at her home with her
two daughters. She was born April 11, 1934 in Elkton, CO to Josh and Beatrice Snyder. She married
Howard McCumber November 16, 1952 and they remained married for almost 47 years until his death
in November 1999. They raised their two daughters and son in Wetmore and Florence, CO. They
relocated to Fort Collins, CO where they lived for several years.
Ruth worked as a caregiver and nurse’s assistant for many years. Once she and Howard retired, they
moved back to Florence, CO. She loved to spend time with her children, grandchildren and later great
grandchild. She loved to collect bells, angels and dolls. She enjoyed sewing, baking and canning. She
loved to teach her daughters and granddaughter how to cook, sew and can. She loved to bake cookies
with her great grandson and spend as much time with him as she could.
She is survived by her children Perry McCumber, Priscilla McCumber, and Pat Edwards; grandchildren
Jeremy(Melisa) McCumber, Nehemiah McCumber and Melissa(Jerome) Zapien; great grandson VinAxle
Zapien; several nieces and nephews and her extended family Manuel and Josie Zapien.
She is preceded in death by her parents Josh and Beatrice Snyder, son Paul Lynn McCumber, husband
Howard McCumber, daughter in law Shelly McCumber , great grandson Xander Zapien, sisters Iva
Snyder, Ethel Fry, Marie Proud, Beatrice Wheeler, Rose Shrock, her brother Joshua Snyder and her two
infant brothers and one infant sister.
Her wishes were to be cremated and have her ashes joined with her late husband. Her service will be
announced at a later date. Her arrangements are being handled through Harwood Funeral Home of
Canon City, CO.
