Samuel Carter Obituary

Samuel Gavin Carter went to be with his Lord and Savior on May 11th, 2025. Sam was born February 23rd, 1999 to Chad and Stephanie Carter (Senn).

Sam is survived by his wife, Erica Carter (Stoner), his two younger brothers, Gabriel and Calvin Carter, his parents, Chad and Stephanie Carter, his grandparents, Jerry and Betsy Carter (Holman), and Mary Senn (Nemmers). As well as an abundance of aunts, uncles, cousins, and many, many friends.

From a young age, Sam was a talker. At the heart of everything he did, it really came down to his love of conversing with others, telling stories, and making people laugh. “Long story short” wasn’t a phrase he understood. He was truly a beacon of light, love, and infectious giggles. He was God’s greatest gift to his family—the glue holding everyone together.

Sam could usually be found with a cold beer in his hand and covered in his day’s work. Whether that was dirt, grease, oil, or even the evidence of working cows all day. He was the epitome of a Jack-of-all-trades. He was the guy you called when you needed something.

Sam was a true outdoorsman. You could find him outside most days. Whether it was hunting down coyotes, shooting at prairie dogs, fishing a creek, riding his dirt bike, looking for rattlesnakes, watching over his chickens, throwing horseshoes, cutting hay, growing a garden, nurturing his lawn, or his absolute favorite: sleeping in a hammock beneath the stars.

If he wasn’t outside, he was probably playing Poker or Rummy while old country tunes blared in the background. Or you might even find him at the bowling alley where he was learning to at best, tolerate the sport. Mostly though, he went to enjoy time with his wife, family, and friends.

If Sam taught us anything, it’s to make jokes and laugh often, offer a helping hand every chance you can, see a new adventure in every single day, and most importantly, call your friends just because you can.

Sam was a remarkable husband, an extraordinary son, a fearless brother, and the greatest friend you’ll ever have. He is deeply missed by many and has left a gaping hole in our hearts. He has joined his uncle Andy, grandfather Howie, and multiple great-grandmothers and grandfathers in Heaven.

Sam’s Honorary Pallbearers are, Clayton Riddle, Parker Wanner, Clayton Benesch, Cash Carter, Brenton Riddle and Brandon Pearson.
