Shad Everett Johnson, a beloved husband, father, son, brother, and friend, went to be with his Lord and Savior in Colorado Springs, Colorado on September 17, 2025. Born on August 15, 1967, in Raton, New Mexico, Shad's infectious enthusiasm and unwavering faith shaped the core of his being throughout his 58 years of life.
With a heart full of love and commitment, Shad shared 35 joyous years of marriage with his cherished wife, Deanna. Their union was blessed with two wonderful children, Kreath and KJ, who were the apple of his eye. Shad's love for his family was evident in every aspect of his life, and he took every opportunity to create lasting memories with them.
Shad's professional journey was as diverse as it was impactful. He worked in the radio, real estate, insurance, and financial industries, where his gregarious personality and integrity made him a respected figure. Shad’s commitment to his community was equally notable through his role on the Canon City School Board, where he worked tirelessly to ensure the well-being and success of the students and staff. Shad's commitment to his community did not end there; he was instrumental in making the Senior Fun Fest a highlight for graduates of Canon City High School, ensuring that their transition was celebrated with joy and camaraderie. He was also part of the Loaves and Fishes board, a previous director at Park State Bank, a member of the military and involved in many other community organizations.
A man of faith, Shad lived his life showing Jesus to so many. He found great joy in sharing coffee with friends and strangers alike, using these moments as opportunities to show the love of Jesus through his actions and words. His faith was a beacon that guided him and inspired those around him.
Shad's zest for life was contagious, and he had an insatiable love for music and dance. Whether a tune was playing in the background or the center of a celebration, he never missed a chance to dance, bringing smiles and laughter to all who watched.
His journey on earth may have concluded, but he lived his life with purpose, loved without reservation, and walked in the light of Christ every day of his life. He is survived by his wife Deanna, children Kreath and KJ, parents Beverly and Ernie, sister Shana and husband Jeff, brother Scott and wife Laura as well as numerous nieces and nephews and a multitude of friends who were family in every sense of the word. Shad is now having coffee served in heaven and having a dance party with Jesus. A celebration of Shad’ life will be held Friday, September 26, at 11 A.M. at Veteran’s Park in Canon City. Please come and celebrate Shad and the beautiful life he lived.
