Stanley Silengo Obituary

July 11, 1955 – November 24, 2023

At age 68, Stan Silengo of Canon City went home to be with his personal Savior, Jesus, and is now completely healed after a faith-filled battle with lung disease. He was the second of four boys born in Pueblo, Colorado, to Albert and Myrna Silengo.

Stan’s faith in Jesus was the most important thing in his life, and he intentionally lived his life and served others with love, always pointing people to the Lord. He trusted his Lord unwaveringly, and his family witnessed him peacefully enter into the presence of his Savior.

Growing up, Stan was the kid who worked hard and enjoyed learning new things and starting new endeavors! As a boy, he sold gift cards door to door, cleaned rabbit hutches, and ran a litmus paper business and radio station with his brother Ken. Throughout Stan’s middle and high school years, he worked as a newspaper boy with three simultaneous routes, played guitar as a member of multiple rock bands, and helped in his parents’ main street shop called the Sugar Shack. Following graduation, he worked construction jobs with his dad, became the youngest licensed realtor in Colorado, and managed the Red Barn restaurant.

On June 26, 1976, Stan married the love of his life, Nancy Mueller, and they embarked on a life-long adventure. They met in middle school, celebrated 47 years of marriage, and together raised five children who blessed them with thirteen grandchildren! Stan always valued hard work and did whatever he needed to support his family. Whether it was working for someone else or starting his own business venture, there was no task he could not master with his work ethic, creativity, and entrepreneurial spirit! Together, Stan and Nancy did foster care for sixteen years, sharing their home with twenty-one kids. Their strong passion for God-centered marriages was evident in their 35-year ministry of providing pre-marriage training and marriage mentoring. Stan retired in 2018 from Evangelical Free Church where he thoroughly enjoyed serving in the areas of worship, technology, and facilities management. God blessed Stan and his family in March of 2018 when Stan received the gift of extended life through a double lung transplant! They all celebrated his five-year transplant anniversary earlier this year and will be forever grateful for the added years.

Stan leaves to cherish his memory his devoted wife Nancy; his children Janelle (Joe) Fuentes, Julie (Brandon) Ardiente, Jeanna (Grant) Chambers, Brittney Silengo, and Brian (Emily) Silengo; his thirteen grandchildren; his brothers Ken Silengo, Tony (Becky) Silengo, and Dan (Sue) Silengo; his loving stepmother Beverly Silengo and her children; as well as his Mueller family brothers and sisters in law.

A celebration of life service will be held at Free Church of Canon City, 3000 East Main on Saturday, December 2 at 1 pm.
