Susan Lindberg Obituary

Susan Ann Lindberg, known affectionately as Sue to her friends and family, passed away tragically at the age of 61 in a vehicle accident on Aprit 11, 2024, in Fremont County, Colorado. Born on November 22, 1962, in Columbus, Nebraska, Sue's vibrant spirit and unwavering courage touched all who had the privilege of knowing her.

Sue grew up in Columbus, Nebraska, where her journey began at Saint Isidores Elementary and continued through Columbus High School. Her early years were marked by a love for horses and active participation in 4H, laying the foundation for a life characterized by passion and a zest for adventure. As a young woman, she started her family in Schuyler, Nebraska, a testament to her commitment to her loved ones and her community.

Sue's entrepreneurial spirit led her to Canon City, Colorado, where she managed the family business, Kountry Korner Convenience Store, with the same dedication and warmth she brought to every aspect of her life. Later, Sue found her calling as a FedEx driver, a job she truly loved, allowing her to connect with people daily and brighten their lives with her infectious smile and generous heart.

Sue's life was one of selfless devotion to her family, who meant the world to her. She is survived by her parents, Walter Schrad of Columbus, Nebraska, and Sharon Whitney of Canon City, Colorado. Her legacy continues through her four children, April (Marty) Ernst of Schuyler, Nebraska, Nicole Gewecke of Canon City, Colorado, Kelsie (Chad) Simmons of Roswell, New Mexico, and Bobbie Medrano of Canon City, Colorado. Sue's joy was multiplied by her 24 grandchildren, Arisa, Cayley, Chloe, McCoy, Ada, Corbyn, Cory, Cody, Madilynn, Trystan, Quinton, Kaidan, Trinity, Kameron, Ariyah, Kora, Jamison, Kiya, Eli, Ivy, Kia, Ike, Sky, and Jey, and further blessed with two great-grandsons, Johnny and Phillip.

Her brother, Wayne Schrad of Columbus, Nebraska, along with her nephew Justin, his daughter Anna and niece Jessica (Josh), their children Paisley, Charlee, and Wajer. Otis, her cherished dog, was a constant source of comfort and companionship for her.

Sue was proceeded in death by her sister Brenda K. Schrad and her grandparents, Otis and Delpha Usher, and Ben and Beatrice Schrad, who have now welcomed her into eternal peace.

In her spare time, Sue continued to embrace the simple pleasures of life. She enjoyed going to Bingo with her daughter Kelsie, was an avid puzzler, and never missed an opportunity to watch old western movies, especially those featuring her favorite actor, John Wayne. "Dr. Pepper" and "Marlboro Reds" were among her favored indulgences, synonymous with her spirited independence.

Sue will be remembered as a courageous and passionate soul, whose selflessness knew no bounds. Her unwavering support and love for her family were the cornerstones of her life. Her absence will leave an irreplaceable void, but her spirit will continue to inspire those she has left behind.

We bid farewell to a remarkable woman whose life was a testament to the power of love, the strength of family, and the beauty of a life lived with purpose. Susan Ann Lindberg's memory will be cherished and honored by all who were fortunate enough to know her. Her story does not end here, for it lives on in the hearts of her family, friends, and all the lives she touched.
