CMSgt Theodore P. (Ted) Weskamp
Born July 18th, 1928 on a farm near Danbury, Nebraska to Fredrick (Fred) and Katherine (Katie) Weskamp. He attended Laurel Dell and Red Willow Consolidated schools prior to enlisting in the United States Air Force in December of 1948. His duty assignments during his career in the Air Force were in Texas, Wyoming, Minnesota, Nebraska, Arizona and Virginia with overseas assignments in Japan, Greece and Viet Nam. After retiring from the Air Force in 1970, he moved his family to Colorado Springs, Colorado and worked as a Metropolitan Life Insurance Agent. He then moved to Canon City, Colorado in 1972 and worked as assistant manager of Shadow Hills Golf Course. This was followed by the position of Assistant Business Manager and Assistant Headmaster at the Holy Cross Abbey. After working at the Abbey, he became the manager of Mr. Ed’s Family Restaurant and ended career as a car salesman for Bill Berry Motor Company for 11 years prior to fully retiring.
He married Donna Mae Quam on May 9, 1953. They had three children, Debra Weskamp of Centennial, Colorado, Susan (Mike) Zaremba of Pueblo West, Colorado, and Wendy (Joel) Foster of Canon City, Colorado.
He was a member of the VFW, Shadow Hills Golf Course, Armed Forces Top Enlisted Association and a member of Shepherd of the Hills Lutheran Church.
He is survived by his three daughters, Five Grandchildren, Kerry Velez of Highlands Ranch, Paul (Katrina) Prutch of Centennial, Zachary (Katie) Zaremba of Star Idaho, Callie (Aaron) Wolking of Canon City and Lane (Lisa) Foster of Canon City. In addition, there are eight Great Grandchildren, Ashlyn, Natalie, Madison, Aubree, Braxton, Bennett, Sydney and Sadie. He is also survived by his last living sibling, Sister Mary Lou Harned of Tulsa Oklahoma. He was preceded in death by his parents, 5 brothers and 4 sisters.
The family wishes to thank Christine Message, who provided care for him so lovingly for so long. We are forever grateful for her assistance in making his wish of staying at home possible.
The family also thanks Fremont Regional Hospice for their years of care and the endless hours of devotion to helping him navigate these final years at home. Donations in Ted's honor can be made to Fremont Regional Hospice, so that they may continue to provide loving care for our community.
Services will be held Friday, May 9th at 11:00 am at Shepherd of the Hills Lutheran Church in Canon City, CO. This will be followed by full military Air Force Honors graveside at Lakeside Cemetery. Viewing will be available at the church from 10:00 am until the funeral starts.
